When you look at the backgammon board you’ll see its one board with four sections and a bar splitting the board into two halves.  You’ll also see large triangles; these are called points and are what you move your backgammon checkers around the board with.  Now, even though the backgammon board is separated into sections you should look at it as one continuous board.  The sections don’t impact movement at all, neither does the bar; it’s just a resting place for hit checkers and the doubling dice.

The way you start play is that both players set up on the same side of the backgammon board but on opposing sections; opposite sides.  From there, using dice rolls to move your checkers, you and your opponent will move around the backgammon board in opposite directions.  You are trying to reach your opponents starting sections and they are trying to reach yours.  The first to do so and then move their checkers off the board wins.

Now, in-between the start and finish is a lot of backgammon strategy trying to foul up your opponent, but as for the basic rule and setup of backgammon, that’s really all there is to it.

We are living in some of the most volatile economic times of recent memory; sub-prime mortgages, the collapse of investment banks and the general credit crunch to name but a few.  I’m sure like thousands of other people, who might be a little concerned about what the short-term future holds in particular and the long-term future in general.  Trying to put something away for a rainy day has never been so tough to juggle.  That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have any fun though, right.  Perhaps playing in a fee online casino will take your mind off things.

There are a lot of roulette betting strategies out there today but you have to be careful.  That’s because there are also a lot of bad roulette betting strategies out there.  Well, bad might be a harsh word.  So I’ll say betting strategies that won’t turn you a profit.  A couple popular ones I’ve read being passed off as legitimate gambling strategies are these:

The one I most read is the Martingale.  The strategy here is to double your bet after each loss with the idea that in the end the player at least breaks even.  The problem is, of course, that as you double your bets the amounts become very high, sometimes beyond the roulette tables betting limit.  Also, thinking that you’ll break even by simply betting aggressively is not something that will get you far.  There is also the Grand Martingale which after every loss the player doubles his bet and adds $5.  This is bad for the same reasons about plus $5.  You also might read about the Cancellation, in which the gambler cancels out the numbers they win on.  I’m really against this one because just about every time I’ve gone to the roulette table I’ve won on the same number multiple times.

I personally think these strategies were developed by high rolling gamblers who didn’t care to lose money and just wanted a new challenge.  If this is you, than the above strategies are worth giving a try.  But for the rest of us roulette players in the internet gambling world, take caution and bet wisely.
